Dothan, AL (December 6, 2025) – A fatal two-truck crash on December 5 claimed the life of a Georgia man in Dothan. The wreck happened on Hwy 52, about one mile east of Ross Clark Circle Road, according to local officials.
Houston County Coroner confirmed that 65-year-old James Albert Greenwood of Ludovico, Georgia, died in the crash. Greenwood drove one of the pickup trucks involved in the collision. After the impact, his truck caught fire, trapping him inside until emergency crews arrived.
Authorities did not share details about injuries to the occupants of the second truck. Officials also did not state what caused the two vehicles to collide. A Dothan Police Department accident reconstruction team spent the afternoon examining the scene and gathering information.
Investigators collected debris, measured skid marks, and documented the final positions of both trucks. They will review this evidence carefully to determine how the crash happened.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of James Albert Greenwood following this tragic collision.
Truck Collisions in Dothan

Truck crashes in the Dothan region often lead to severe injuries because of the force involved. Many of these collisions happen on busy routes like Hwy 52, which carries steady local and regional traffic. Drivers on this road travel near commercial areas, neighborhoods, and rural stretches. With these constant shifts in traffic flow, crashes can occur with little warning.
Pickup trucks remain popular vehicles in Southeast Alabama. Although they handle well and offer strong performance, they also present risks during high-impact collisions. When two trucks collide, the crash force can cause fuel leaks, fires, and severe structural damage. As seen in this tragic wreck, fires can trap drivers and make rescue efforts difficult. These situations often result in fatal injuries before help arrives.
Victims of truck collisions may suffer burns, blunt-force trauma, spinal injuries, and internal damage. Survivors often face long recovery periods and major medical expenses. Families dealing with the death of a loved one may experience deep emotional pain along with sudden financial strain. Funeral costs, lost income, and medical bills can create added stress during an already painful time.
When negligence contributes to a deadly or serious crash, Alabama law allows families to seek compensation through a wrongful death or personal injury claim. These claims may help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. However, insurance companies often try to limit payments or shift blame. Because of this, families benefit from speaking with an attorney as soon as possible.
An experienced lawyer can gather crash reports, review witness statements, analyze the scene, and work with reconstruction experts. This evidence helps build a strong case and ensures that victims understand their legal options. Legal guidance also eases the burden on families, allowing them to focus on healing while their attorney manages communication with insurers.
