Fatal Car Accidents in Alabama

Hundreds of lives are lost annually as a result of motor vehicle accidents in the state of Alabama. Far too many of these accidents are completely preventable. We see innocent people lose their lives every day as a result of motorists who are careless and reckless. Some of the leading factors in fatal car crashes across our state include:

  • Speeding: Exceeding the posted speed limit while driving on our roads can lead to deadly accidents. This is especially true when traveling on narrow or winding roads.

  • Drivers who are under the influence (DUI): Alcohol and drug use can impair a driver's judgment, coordination, and reaction time. This can lead to serious accidents that result in devastating injuries for those involved.

  • Distracted driving: This includes any activity that takes a driver's attention away from the road. In Alabama, some of the most common distractions include cell phone use, eating, and talking with passengers.

  • Driver fatigue: Driving while fatigued or drowsy can impair a driver's ability to react and make safe decisions on the road.

  • Failure to yield: This includes failing to stop at a stop sign or red light and even turning into parking lots without yielding to others nearby.
