Fatal Car Accidents in Alabama

During 2022, the state of Alabama witnessed a total of 31,990 motor vehicle accidents. These collisions resulted in over 10,900 individuals sustaining injuries, while nearly 600 ended up passing away as a result of the injuries they suffered.

There are countless factors that contribute to car accidents in our state. One of the most common factors is distracted driving, which often involves people engaging in activities like texting, eating, or talking on the phone while operating a vehicle. These actions can result in a driver taking their attention off the road and leaving them unable to react in time to avoid a collision.

Speeding is another contributing factor in many of the collisions across our state. Drivers exceeding the posted speed limits have a significantly decreased ability to maintain control over their vehicles. As a result, they may struggle to stop in time to prevent crashes from taking place. Additionally, aggressive driving behaviors, such as tailgating and weaving between traffic, also increase the risk of accidents taking place.
