Hoover, AL (October 31, 2025) – A tragic multi-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 19-year-old McCalla man on October 29 along Interstate 459 South near U.S. Highway 31 in Hoover. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 11:36 a.m., according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Authorities stated that the victim was driving alone at the time of the crash. The impact involved multiple vehicles and caused severe damage to his vehicle, which came to rest in the southbound lanes. Emergency responders from the Hoover Fire Department and ALEA Troopers arrived swiftly to assist. Paramedics provided immediate medical attention before transporting him to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at 12:19 p.m.
Investigators have not yet released details on the number of vehicles involved or the exact sequence of events that led to the collision. Preliminary findings suggest that heavy mid-morning traffic may have been a contributing factor. The crash caused lane closures on I-459 South for several hours as crews worked to clear debris, document evidence, and reopen the roadway.
