Motorcycle collisions often lead to serious outcomes, and it’s important to recognize the risks that riders face on the road. Below are a few common injuries that motorcyclists may suffer during these types of crashes:

  • Head and brain injuries: Even with a helmet, motorcyclists are vulnerable to concussions or traumatic brain injuries during an impact. These injuries can have lasting cognitive and physical effects.

  • Spinal cord damage: The force of a crash may affect the spine, potentially leading to temporary or permanent paralysis depending on the severity of the injury.

  • Broken bones: Motorcyclists frequently suffer fractures, especially in the arms, legs, ribs, and collarbone due to the lack of exterior protection around them.

  • Road rash and soft tissue damage: Sliding across pavement can cause painful abrasions, lacerations, and damage to ligaments or muscles.

  • Internal injuries: Blunt force trauma from a crash can harm internal organs and lead to internal bleeding, which might not be immediately obvious but can be life-threatening if untreated.
