We hope the injured victim recovers quickly.
Our sympathies go out to the families of Ronald Jones and the second victim who died in this crash.
Fatal Car Accidents in Alabama
Fatal automobile collisions are the cause of hundreds of deaths annually in Alabama. Unfortunately, these accidents can have an overwhelming impact on a family. After losing a loved one, it is appropriate for families to take legal action against the responsible parties.
In Alabama, the exclusive right to initiate a wrongful death claim rests with the personal representative of the estate, except in cases involving a minor under 19, where the parents have a six-month window to file a lawsuit. Following this period, the personal representative must proceed with the claim.
The family has a period of up to 40 days from the accident to petition the probate court to appoint them as the personal representative. Should they miss this window, the court may designate an alternative administrator.
If wrongful death damages are granted, they are allocated to the heirs or those individuals who would inherit from the victim if no will exists. It is vital that surviving family members take legal action right away by reaching out to a Mobile wrongful death lawyer. Waiting can negatively affect your ability to get justice.
