Phenix City, AL (June 1, 2026) – A man was killed on Monday morning, June 1, in a three-vehicle crash at an intersection along Alabama Highway 165.

Authorities identified the victim as 36-year-old Anthony D. Dinelli. He suffered severe injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:31 a.m. Officials said the cause of death was blunt force trauma resulting from the crash.

Another driver involved in the accident was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries. No additional information about the other people involved has been released.

Investigators are working to determine what caused the crash and are looking into whether speed may have been a factor. The investigation remains ongoing.

Our deepest condolences go out to Anthony Dinelli's family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

How Do Multi-Vehicle Dynamics Affect a Wrongful Death Claim in Alabama?

Multi-vehicle crashes can make wrongful death claims more complex because determining exactly how the collision occurred and which driver was responsible is often more difficult.

Under Alabama law, surviving family members must show that a driver's negligence directly caused their loved one's death.

When three or more vehicles are involved, insurance companies may dispute liability and attempt to place blame on other drivers. As a result, carefully reconstructing the sequence of events is often necessary to identify the actions that led to the fatal crash.

These types of collisions frequently occur on busy highways that carry a mix of passenger vehicles and commercial traffic. When multiple impacts occur during the same crash, the forces involved can be severe, increasing the risk of catastrophic injuries and fatalities.

Families are often left coping not only with the emotional loss of a loved one but also with unexpected medical expenses, funeral costs, and the loss of financial support that person may have provided.

Because liability is often contested in multi-vehicle crashes, preserving evidence as early as possible is important. Crash reports, vehicle data, witness statements, and other evidence can help establish what happened and who may be responsible.

A wrongful death attorney can assist by gathering records, reviewing available evidence, and communicating with insurance companies throughout the process. Legal guidance can help families understand their options and protect their rights while the investigation continues.
