Remlap, AL (October 30, 2023) – The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirmed that 58-year-old Rebekah Fitts lost her life as a result of a fatal crash that occurred in Blount County on Thursday evening.

Fitts was severely hurt due to the crash. She was airlifted by helicopter and flown to the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital, where she passed away from her injuries.

The Alabama state troopers are investigating.

We hope Varcedrick J. Daniel is able to recover quickly following this crash.

Our condolences go out to the family of Rebekah Fitts.

Fatal Auto Accidents in Alabama

Losing a loved one in a fatal accident can be devastating. Unfortunately, hundreds of people die as a result of accidents that occur in our state. In many cases, these crashes take place due to a combination of factors. Some of the most common causes of fatal car crashes include:

  • Distracted Driving: Texting, talking on the phone, or even eating can have a significant impact on a driver’s ability to notice other vehicles or people nearby.

  • Impaired Driving: Alcohol and drugs impair a driver's judgment and coordination, which can make it impossible for a driver to maintain control of their vehicle.

  • Fatigue: Drowsy driving can be as dangerous as drunk driving. It can significantly affect a driver's ability to stay alert and react in time to avoid crashing into another vehicle.

  • Mechanical Failures: Vehicle defects or poor maintenance can lead to a driver losing control of their vehicle and crashing.
