Remlap, AL - Zyra Sharpe Loses Life in Crash on Old Compton Rd near Red Valley Rd

Remlap, AL (September 11, 2023) – A woman from the Center Point area lost her life following a motor vehicle crash in Blount County. The accident occurred at around 6:25 p.m. on September 9.

According to reports from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, a collision involving a 2005 Honda Accord took place on old Compton Road in the area near Red Valley Road. The incident caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike multiple trees before coming to rest.

A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 37-year-old Zyra Sharpe, was partially ejected from the vehicle. She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, 19-year-old Abel Sharpe, was transported to the University of Alabama – Birmingham Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. An 18-year-old injured in the accident was also transported to an area hospital.

The crash is being investigated at this time.
