Tuscaloosa, AL (November 10, 2025) – Authorities are investigating a tragic multi-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman on Sunday, November 9, on Interstate 359 in Tuscaloosa. The crash, which involved seven vehicles, resulted in multiple injuries and two arrests for driving under the influence.
According to the Tuscaloosa Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. when a car carrying 21-year-old Cierra Brena Anthony was rear-ended by another vehicle while traveling on I-359. Both Anthony and the driver exited their car to check on the other motorist involved in the initial impact. Moments later, another vehicle collided with the parked car, propelling it forward and striking Anthony.
Emergency crews responded swiftly to the scene, but despite their efforts, Anthony suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Five additional people sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities have confirmed that two individuals involved in the crash have been charged with DUI, though their names have not yet been released pending further investigation. Officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency worked together to document the scene and gather evidence from the multiple vehicles involved.
Traffic on I-359 was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear debris and conduct a thorough investigation. All lanes were reopened later in the morning.
Witnesses described a chaotic and devastating scene, with several vehicles damaged and emergency responders performing life-saving measures on multiple victims. Investigators are continuing to determine the sequence of events that led to the pileup.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Cierra Brena Anthony during this challenging time. We also wish the injured victims a full and swift recovery.
Drunk Driving Accidents in Alabama

Drunk driving continues to be one of the leading causes of serious and fatal collisions in Alabama. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly one-third of all traffic deaths in the United States involve an impaired driver. The risk increases exponentially during late-night and early-morning hours, particularly on weekends.
Tuscaloosa County has seen a concerning number of DUI-related crashes over recent years, with major interstates like I-359 and I-20 serving as frequent sites of high-speed collisions. Alcohol and drugs significantly impair reaction times, decision-making abilities, and depth perception, making even experienced drivers vulnerable to catastrophic mistakes.
