Moulton, AL (April 13, 2026) – A serious crash on Saturday, April 11, claimed three lives and left two children hurt at the intersection of Highway 157 and Highway 24 in Moulton.

Authorities said a car driven by a 33-year-old woman was struck on the side by a truck. She was traveling with four children when the accident happened.

Two of the children were pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The two surviving children were rushed to a hospital in Birmingham for treatment. One child was removed from a ventilator on Sunday, April 12, while the other underwent surgery and is recovering.

Doctors reported brain swelling and bleeding but expect the procedure to help, though the child also experienced seizures that night.

Officials have not shared further details about the cause of the crash at this time. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.

Our hearfelt sympathies go out to the families affected, and we also wish the injured children strength and healing in their recovery.

What to do if you get hit by a truck in Alabama

First, seek medical attention right away, even if injuries seem minor. Truck accidents can cause serious injuries that may not appear immediately, such as internal trauma or head injuries.

Calling 911 ensures emergency responders arrive quickly and creates an official accident report.

If you are able, gather information at the scene. This includes the truck driver’s name, contact details, employer, insurance information, and photos of the vehicles, damage, and road conditions.

Witness statements can also be valuable. Alabama law requires reporting accidents involving injuries, so make sure law enforcement documents the crash. Also, request a copy of the Alabama police crash report.

Avoid discussing fault at the scene or posting about the accident online. Statements made early can be used later by insurance companies. Instead, focus on accurate documentation and follow all medical advice after leaving the scene.

Overall, after you are hit by a truck in Alabama, especially on busy roadways such as Highway 157, Highway 24, or other major routes, taking the right steps can protect both your health and your legal rights.
