Northport, AL (June 11, 2025) – A heartbreaking accident occurred Sunday afternoon, June 8, just outside the Northport city limits, leaving one child dead and four others injured. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirmed that the crash involved two pickup trucks colliding on Romulus Road near Libby Road in Tuscaloosa County.
Authorities say the tragedy unfolded when a 2004 Chevrolet pickup, driven by a 36-year-old from Coker, collided with a 2014 Ford F-150 being operated by a 16-year-old from Northport. According to Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama State Troopers in west Alabama, a 12-year-old child riding in the Chevrolet truck was killed. The child was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews arrived quickly, and the scene remained active for an extended period as they attended to the injured and investigated the crash. The adult driver of the Chevrolet and the teen driver of the Ford were both injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment.
Two more children, aged 14 and 5, were also riding in the Chevrolet pickup at the time of the collision. Both sustained injuries and were taken to local medical facilities for further care. The conditions of those injured have not been publicly disclosed. The Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate the incident to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash.
We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.
Car Accidents in Alabama

Every year, thousands of accidents are reported across Alabama’s roadways. In 2022, the Alabama Department of Transportation recorded over 31,000 injuries related to motor vehicle crashes. These events often affect families and communities, especially when children are involved. Whether in rural areas or city streets, Alabama drivers face daily risks. Understanding how accidents impact victims and their loved ones is critical. Below are some common types of injuries victims may suffer in vehicle crashes:
Head and Brain Injuries: Even with airbags and safety measures, sudden impact can lead to concussions or traumatic brain injuries. These may not show symptoms immediately but can have long-term consequences, especially in children.
Spinal Cord Damage: A hard jolt from a crash can result in damage to the spinal cord. This can cause temporary or permanent mobility issues, and recovery may involve long-term rehabilitation.
Internal Injuries: Crashes often cause internal bleeding or organ damage, which may not be immediately obvious. Quick medical attention is critical for diagnosing and treating these injuries before complications arise.
Fractures and Broken Bones: From arms and legs to ribs and pelvis, bone fractures are among the most common injuries. Some require surgery or extended physical therapy to regain full function.
Emotional Trauma: Children and adults involved in serious accidents can suffer from anxiety, nightmares, or post-traumatic stress disorder. Mental health support is an essential part of recovery.
