Macon Co, AL (April 30, 2025) – A collision involving a kangaroo took place on Tuesday morning on Interstate 85 in Macon County. The accident occurred around 11:50 a.m. in the southbound lanes near the 46-mile marker, leading to temporary road closures as officials worked to resolve the situation.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division reported that the crash involved a vehicle and a kangaroo being transported by its owner. Fortunately, the kangaroo did not sustain any injuries and was safely retrieved with the help of its owner. Both the southbound and northbound lanes were closed for a period as the animal was safely recovered, causing brief traffic delays.

Emergency crews, including ambulances, were present at the scene to assist. The driver involved in the accident was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Firefighters also assisted with extracting the vehicle and ensuring that the scene was cleared to allow for the reopening of the highway.

The incident has been resolved, and the roadway is now open. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

We extend our best wishes for a quick and full recovery to the injured individual involved.
