Pinson, AL (March 14, 2025) – A deadly fire tragically took the life of 51-year-old Kelli Whisonant Roper on Tuesday afternoon, March 11. The incident occurred at her townhouse on Heritage Place. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, firefighters from Center Point Fire and Rescue responded to the scene at around 3:00 p.m. Upon arrival, they encountered heavy flames and smoke emanating from the residence.
Battalion Chief Chris Horn stated that the firefighters began battling the fire and conducted an initial search of the home. During the search, they discovered the victim and immediately removed her from the building. Emergency medical teams began treatment, but she was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:36 p.m.
Roper was reportedly home alone when the fire broke out. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office.
