Limestone Co, AL (May 7, 2025) – Several individuals sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle collision that took place Tuesday evening along the southbound lanes of Interstate 65 in Limestone County. The crash occurred around 6:52 p.m. close to the Tennessee River Bridge and involved multiple vehicles, including a large commercial truck that allegedly left the scene, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
ALEA troopers closed I-65 southbound between mile markers 334 and 361 at approximately 7:44 p.m. as first responders arrived to manage the situation. Fire crews worked to rescue individuals trapped inside the wrecked vehicles, while emergency medical personnel provided treatment on site before transporting those injured to nearby medical facilities. The impacted lanes were reopened around 9:51 p.m.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office later located a smoldering 18-wheeler near the Priceville exit believed to have been involved in the crash. Authorities are currently investigating whether the truck driver will face criminal charges. Alabama State Troopers continue to gather information and are expected to provide further updates as the inquiry proceeds.

Multi-Vehicle Crashes in Limestone County
As Limestone County continues to grow, so too does its traffic density, contributing to a greater number of multi-vehicle crashes. Data from the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) indicates that in 2022 alone, the county recorded over 2,000 motor vehicle accidents, with roughly 27% involving more than one vehicle. Many of these incidents occur on high-speed routes like I-65, often resulting in serious injuries—particularly when large trucks are involved.
In Alabama, victims of multi-vehicle accidents may pursue compensation through personal injury claims against negligent parties. Damages may be awarded for medical costs, lost income, emotional distress, and long-term care. However, the state’s contributory negligence standard bars recovery if the injured party is found even 1% at fault, highlighting the need for skilled legal counsel.
