Blount County, AL – Gary B Reid Loses Life in Bus Crash on AL-160 near Windsong Ln

Blount County, AL (April 19, 2023) – The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirmed that 60-year-old Gary B Reid of Hayden, Alabama, lost his life as a result of a bus crash that took place in Blount County just four miles east of Hayden.


The accident was reported to ALEA at approximately 3:00 p.m. on April 18.


Reports provided by authorities show that a Toyota Camry and a 2019 Freightliner Thomas school bus collided on Alabama 160 in the area of Windsong Lane. The impact of the crash sent the pickup truck off the roadway, where it struck an embankment.


The incident prompted ALEA and local firefighters to shut down a portion of the roadway.


Reed, who was driving the Toyota, was fatally injured in the crash. He was pronounced deceased on-site by responding officers.


At this time, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating.
